CoreData Desktop – Deployment Guide for System Administrators (EN)

This page is intended for system administrators who want to install, deploy or uninstall the new CoreData Desktop centrally on users' computers, e.g. with PowerShell, Intune, SCCM or other deployment tools.

General end-user instructions (in Icelandic) can be found on the pages CoreData Desktop and Stillingar á CoreData Desktop.

Installation files

Installation files are available at https://www.coredata.is/um-okkur/uppsetning. Two package types are provided:

File

Description

coredata-desktop-x64-<version>.msi

MSI package – best suited for central deployment (Intune, SCCM, GPO, PowerShell)

coredata-desktop-<version>.exe

Installer bundle

The examples below use version 26.3.0.0. Replace the version number and file path as needed.

Parameters

CoreData Desktop supports two custom parameters in the MSI installation:

Parameter

Description

Example

AUTOSTARTUP

Controls whether CoreData Desktop starts automatically when the user signs in to Windows

AUTOSTARTUP=no

INSTALLDIR

Installation folder for the application

INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\CoreData Desktop"

All other parameters are standard MSI / Windows Installer options, for example:

Parameter

Description

/quiet or /qn

Silent installation – no user interface is shown

/norestart

Prevents the computer from restarting after installation

/log <path> or /l*v <path>

Writes an installation log to the specified file (/l*v = verbose log)

Examples – PowerShell

Silent install with MSI (without automatic startup)

PowerShell
Start-Process msiexec.exe -Wait -ArgumentList '/i "coredata-desktop-x64-26.3.0.0.msi" AUTOSTARTUP=no /qn /norestart /l*v "C:\Temp\cdd-install.log"'

Silent install with the EXE bundle

PowerShell
Start-Process ".\coredata-desktop-26.3.0.0.exe" -Wait -ArgumentList '/quiet /norestart /log C:\Temp\cdd-bundle.log'

Silent uninstall with MSI

PowerShell
Start-Process msiexec.exe -Wait -ArgumentList '/x "coredata-desktop-x64-26.3.0.0.msi" /qn /norestart /l*v "C:\Temp\cdd-uninstall.log"'

Tips

  • Make sure the log folder (e.g. C:\Temp) exists before running the installation.

  • The installation must be run with administrator privileges (Run as administrator).

  • If the installation fails, review the log file specified with /l*v or /log, and send it to us if you need assistance.

  • After installation, each user needs to sign in and allow CoreData Desktop to connect to the browser – see Stillingar á CoreData Desktop and Gefa CoreData Desktop leyfi til að tengjast CoreData.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance, or if you have suggestions on how CoreData can be improved.
